Masschusetts tops state tech rankings

Colorado, Washington, Virginia, Utah, Delaware, Connecticut and New Hampshire rounded out the top 10 with West Virginia, Arkansas and Mississippi making up the bottom of the list.

The index computes and measures 79 individual indicators relative to population, gross state product, number of establishments and businesses and other factors with data coming from government agencies, foundations and private sources.

The states are ranked in descending order with the top state being assigned a score of 100, the runner-up a score of 98, and the 50th state a score of two in the following composite rankings: Research and development inputs, risk capital and entrepreneurial infrastructure, human capital investment, technology and science workforce and technology concentration and dynamism.
