Miami-Dade County, Fla., appoints full-time CIO
Miami-Dade County, Florida, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava last month named Margaret Brisbane, who had been serving as interim chief information officer, to the position on a permanent basis.

Brisbane, who spent 14 years as the assistant IT director of Miami-Dade County prior to her appointment as interim CIO last November, was named permanent CIO in late April, according to the county. She’s the first woman and woman of color to run the department, Levine Cava said, citing a desire to diversify the county’s senior leadership and advance talent from within the administration.
“Margaret has been an outstanding leader within ITD, and I am committed to recognizing and advancing the great talent within Miami-Dade County and diversifying our senior leadership,” Levine Cava said in a press release. “I am also thrilled that a woman of color will be running our technology department for the first time as we lead by example from within county government in uplifting diverse leaders in tech. She has also shown a great commitment to modernizing our IT infrastructure to better connect our residents with county services.”
After taking over for longtime CIO Angel Petisco in November, Brisbane led the implementation of the county’s new enterprise resources planning system to modernize the county’s business, supply chain and financial processes. Brisbane has also led cybersecurity, network and data center operations for the county since November, and as assistant IT director, built several geographic information systems applications to help residents find COVID-19 vaccines, testing sites and food banks.
