Washington enterprise services agency launches new, user-focused website
Enterprise Services launches new, user-focused website:
OLYMPIA — The Department of Enterprise Services launched a new website today that serves as a single point of access to all of the agency’s services.
The new site brings together an array of services that had been spread across multiple websites after the largest consolidation in state government in more than two decades. The merger in October 2011 combined entire agencies and significant portions of others.
In developing the new website, Enterprise Services staff worked with hundreds of representatives of its broad customer base, including state agencies, vendors, business groups and local governments, among others.
The Legislature created Enterprise Services in July 2011 and the agency officially opened its doors later that year in October. The agency provides a variety of support — such as vehicle fleet operations, surplus, contracting, mail, facilities maintenance, leasing, information technology assistance, personnel services, and public works project management — to state government as well as Washington residents and businesses. It also maintains the capitol grounds and buildings and welcomes more than 200,000 visitors annually.
Enterprise Services is also charged with creating innovations that result in greater overall operating efficiencies in state government. The agency recently submitted a two-year operating budget request that is significantly lower than what it began with in 2011.
The agency combines services from the former departments of General Administration and Printing and sections of the former departments of Personnel and Information Services. Several Divisions from the Office of Financial Management are also part of the agency.
“This new website reflects the work that has been accomplished over the past year to consolidate all or part of five agencies into one,” said Director Joyce Turner. “As with all of our services, we will continue to seek improvements so our customers can find the information they need quickly and efficiently.”
Enterprise Services has its headquarters in Olympia, but also serves customers in several locations across Washington.?
