Virginia launches new virginia.gov
The commonwealth of Virginia has launched a redesigned website, virginia.gov, including a mobile alternative.
New features include integrated calendar services, social media, mobile applications and universal search.
The content management system is powered by Sitecore. The site was designed and developed by CapTech in collaboration with Big River and is hosted by AIS Networks. The procurement process was managed by the Virginia Information Technologies Agency.
“Internet service delivery has changed significantly since Virginia launched its first government website in 1997,” said Governor Bob McDonnell announcing the new site. “Today, our citizens are enjoying faster connections and often using mobile devices. Our job as a website provider has not changed, however; we must efficiently deliver information and services that our citizens, businesses and visitors need.”
Virginia Chief Information Officer Sam Nixon discusses the redesign with StateScoop Radio.
