California appoints 3 to state tech posts
California Gov. Jerry Brown made a number of high-profile appointments to the California Department of Technology on Wednesday, including naming Davood Ghods as chief of the department’s Office of Technology Services.
California Gov. Jerry Brown made a number of high-profile appointments to the California Department of Technology on Wednesday, including naming Davood Ghods as chief of the department’s Office of Technology Services.
Also appointed were Ron Hughes, who will be the California Department of Technology’s chief deputy director of operations, and Andrea Wallin-Rohmann, who was named chief deputy director of policy at the California Department of Technology.

- Ghods has been deputy director for enterprise information services at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation since 2012. He was information technology services director at Auriga Corporation from 2011 to 2012, senior manager at Ernst and Young LLP from 2009 to 2011 and an agency information officer for the California Department of Food and Agriculture from 2006 to 2009. Ghods was chief information officer at the California Department of Consumer Affairs from 2005 to 2006 and served in multiple positions at the Stephen P. Teale Data Center from 2002 to 2005 and from 1987 to 2001, including assistant director and chief of the Project Management Office, local area network support manager and performance analyst. He served in multiple positions at the California Department of Information and Technology from 2001 to 2002, including deputy director and division chief. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $135,576. Ghods is registered decline-to-state.

- Hughes, 57, of Gold River, has been appointed chief deputy director of operations at the California Department of Technology, where he has served as chief of the Office of Technology Services since 2012. He was president of the California Data Center Design Group from 2002 to 2012 and was director of data center design at Telegis Networks Inc. from 2000 to 2002. Hughes served in multiple positions at the Stephen P. Teale Data Center from 1990 to 1999, including director of the Y2K event management center and project manager. He served in multiple positions at the California State Controller’s Office from 1980 to 1990, including staff services manager, budget officer and internal auditor. - Wallin-Rohmann, 46, of Folsom, has been appointed chief deputy director of policy at the California Department of Technology. She has served in multiple positions at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation since 1998, including deputy director of human resources, chief information officer, project director of the business information system, special assistant to the deputy director of the financial services division and administrative assistant. Wallin-Rohmann served as an associate personnel analyst at the California Franchise Tax Board from 1997 to 1998, an office technician and staff services analyst at the California Department of Corrections from 1993 to 1997 and an office assistant at the California Department of Personnel Administration from 1990 to 1993. She earned a Master of Arts degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $139,524. Wallin-Rohmann is a Democrat.
