Governor McDonnell Encourages Northern Virginia Businesses to Sign up for Free Websites:
– Google’s “Virginia Get Your Business Online” program comes to Falls Church to help Small Businesses in both Spanish and English –

RICHMOND- Governor Bob McDonnell today welcomed the news that Google is bringing its successful “Virginia Get Your Business Online” program to Falls Church next week with a series of workshops in English and Spanish designed to help area businesses build and grow their presence online. The free workshops will give participants a free website for their businesses (along with free web hosting for a year), and other free tools, training and resources to help their businesses grow and succeed online. The Governor encouraged Northern Virginia small businesses to take full advantage of these free resources.
“Virginia’s economic success is directly tied to the success of our small businesses,” said Governor Bob McDonnell. “This initiative will provide many small businesses in the Commonwealth with the opportunity to grow their sales, expand their operations and, most importantly, use that growth to employ more of our citizens. I was pleased to help Google kick-off their “Virginia Get Your Business Online” partnership in 2011. While I’m unable to make next week’s event, I’m thrilled to see this great program continuing to expand across the Commonwealth. This event will help both English and Spanish speaking small business owners improve their visibility online and make them more competitive and successful in the years ahead. The more successful they are, the more jobs they’ll create for their fellow Virginians. That’s how we’ll keep growing our economy and help our fellow citizens find the good-paying employment they need and deserve.”
The next Google workshops will be held in both English and Spanish on Wednesday, February 20 at The State Theatre in Falls Church. (Spanish language workshops will be held from 9-11:30am, and in English from 12:30-3:00pm) NOTE: The Governor will not be able to attend this year’s event.
