New York deputy CIO to step down this summer

Jennifer Lorenz, who has served as deputy chief information officer of New York state and previously helmed its Office of Information Technology Services, plans to leave her role with the state government this summer.

Lorenz, who’s been with the Office of Information Technology Services since 2012, served as acting CIO from March to October of 2024 between Tony Riddick and current CIO Dru Rai. Lorenz has 20 years of experience serving New York state, including 12 in its IT division.
Lorenz helped oversee the state’s response to the global IT outage caused by the faulty Crowdstrike update last July. Under her leadership, the state brought critical systems back online within 24 hours, and she coordinated efforts to remediate tens of thousands of blue screens to get state employees back to work, an ITS spokesperson said.
Lorenz oversaw the launch of the state’s Joint Security Operations Center in Brooklyn, which helped to cement the state’s whole-of-state approach to cybersecurity and foster better coordination with local governments.
Lorenz could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
