Hawaii launches mobile-compatible Insurance License Search

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs’ (DCCA) Insurance Division has launched a mobile device-compatible Insurance Licensing Search at https://insurance.ehawaii.gov/hils/. The webpage is redesigned to be mobile-first responsive and accessible to individuals with an Internet browser on their mobile device.

“We are giving Hawaii consumers a greater level of convenience and ease when they conduct research on insurance agents and companies with whom they seek to do business,” said Insurance Commissioner Gordon Ito. “With more people using their mobile devices to conduct business, the new user-friendly design will help the public easily obtain basic information and confirm that their insurance agent and company are licensed in this state.”

The design elements of this online service follow the new state website template optimized last year for touch screen technology and smart phone interfaces. Some of its new features include larger text, buttons designed with touch response functionality, and custom layouts for multiple devices. The optimization was a highly visible sign of the Abercrombie Administration’s transformation of state government – including how it provides resources and services – which has put Hawaii at the national forefront of website design and integration across all state departments.

This service, among many other online state services, was developed in partnership with Hawaii Information Consortium, LLC, the official Internet portal manager of eHawaii.gov.
