LocalSmart Awards open for nominations for the second year
Nominations for the 2020 edition of the LocalSmart Awards, presented by StateScoop, are now live.
The LocalSmart Awards program honors the local government officials and projects — in cities, counties and municipalities — dedicated to improving the lives of the residents they serve through innovative uses of technology.
Services provided by local officials can affect the daily lives of residents in a manner more direct and immediate than perhaps seen anywhere else. These awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of visionary leaders and the individual projects that are changing lives for the better.
Created as a companion to the StateScoop 50 Awards — which honor the best and brightest in state government — the LocalSmart Awards will be awarded in five categories:
GoldenGov: City Executive of the Year — The visionary city government executive (mayoral or c-level) leading and transforming how to navigate a new technology landscape with innovative ideas and inspiration.
GoldenGov: County Executive of the Year — The executive-level leader (executive or c-level) serving in a dynamic, engaging and transofrmational way through the implementation of technology.
Local IT Leader of the Year — The county or city leader at the managerial or director level leading the charge to transform their communities with technology.
Cybersecurity Leader of the Year — The city or county leader whose focus and effort to improve information security is protecting systems and citizen information.
Local IT Innovation of the Year — The innovative technology-focused or tech-based project that is improving lives and changing the way citizens receive services.
Individual nominees must be currently employed by the city, county or municipal government where their leadership of technology projects has transformed operations and how services are delivered to residents.
Project nominees must be recent IT projects developed by government or in partnership with government that are changing the way residents receive services at the local level.
Nominations will remain open until September 28, 2020. Voting will open in mid-October and close before Thanksgiving. Winners will be announced on StateScoop.com on Dec. 1 and featured in a video and podcast series.
