S.C. license plate, lien inquiries now online through DMV
South Carolina License Plate and Lien Inquiries Now Available Online Through SC DMV:
A new online service offered by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) allows authorized businesses to search and retrieve vehicle lien information and vehicle owner information electronically at, https://web.sc.gov/Inquiry. These Web-based applications, built at no cost to taxpayers through a partnership between the DMV and South Carolina Interactive, a Columbia-based subsidiary of eGovernment firm NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV), provides added convenience and access to information without waiting in line or submitting cumbersome paperwork. The applications were also designed responsively, which means the application view conforms to any device – desktop, laptop, and mobile devices.
The DMV License Plate Inquiry and Lien Inquiry applications offer quick and easy searching.
License Plate and Lien Inquiry online availability provides:
Convenient 24/7 access;
Intuitive, user friendly and mobile friendly design;
Quicker DMV Search processing time;
Immediate search results; and
Printable results.
“Our goal in the design of License Plate Inquiry and Lien Inquiry applications was to create a convenient and reliable method for customers to search and retrieve information with around-the-clock access,” said South Carolina DMV Director Kevin Shwedo. “This new online service has been sought after by many of our current business customers and we are excited to provide a service to meet their needs and requests.”
Customers must sign up for a subscriber account to use these services and will be billed monthly for lien inquiries and will pay instantly using any Visa, MasterCard, or Discover debit or credit card for license plate inquiries. Payments are processed through SC.gov’s secure payment system.
