New Arkansas.gov continues trend to mobile-friendly design, prominent search

Arkansas.gov joins a growing list of new state government websites launching with a responsive, mobile-friendly, search-centric design.

Arkansas.gov joins a growing list of new state government websites launching with a mobile-friendly, search-centric design.

The responsive design and prominent search reflect the state’s growing mobile usage and heavy reliance on search features to navigate the site. According to the Information Network of Arkansas, the NIC affiliate that develops and operates the site, 70 percent of Arkansas.gov visitors use the search feature first.

“Arkansas has some of the highest rates of mobile usage in the country, so it was critical for us to ensure that the state portal provides the best information regardless of what device the citizen is using,” said Arkansas Chief Technology Officer Claire Bailey.

A new service, Arkansas Gov2Go, lets visitors send questions via text for immediate response.
