Texas’ Department of Information Resources has awarded a $170.9 million contract to technology integrator firm Science Applications International Corporation, or SAIC, to provide the state and its agency network with IT and cybersecurity services.

Under the contract award, which was made public last week, SAIC will assist DIR in providing state agencies with cybersecurity monitoring and management services. Other services will include the maintenance and deployment of security tools; the assessment, management and mitigation of risk; and assisting state agencies with meeting cybersecurity requirements found in state, federal or industry regulations.

With the award, Texas joins Virginia, Colorado and California in relying on SAIC for IT and cybersecurity services. The company also serves the Department of Defense in systems modernization, most recently assisting the Air Force to deploy a cloud-based command and control capability to all of the air defense sectors within the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD.

“We are excited to support our clients’ cybersecurity services by applying cutting-edge technologies to enhance the speed of delivery and stay ahead of emerging threats,” Srini Attili, executive vice president of the Civilian Business Group at SAIC, said in a news release.
