A year after catastrophic flooding in Texas's Hill Country exposed critical gaps in emergency warning systems, state and local officials are expanding efforts in flood detection technology.

State officials said the software upgrade will "help standardize processes across agencies” and allow the state to more efficiently deploy its thousands of fleet vehicles.
Given said his early focus will be helping agencies tackle legacy technology systems, expand digital identity services and build on California's leadership in artificial intelligence.
Under the plan, the State will migrate its executive branch data from physical servers and multiple state-operated data centers to AWS’s cloud platform.
The new law establishes an advisory council to bring together state agencies, county representatives and other stakeholders to coordinate future IT projects.
