One of the app’s key features is the ability to process payments while offline and store the information until regaining connectivity. That’s a key feature in rural areas like Idaho, but also in large cities where large buildings may have cellphone or Wi-Fi deadspots.

The mobile service accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa payments through Access Idaho’s secure payment processor.

Access Idaho currently offers OtG to state, county and city government entities in Idaho only. However, plans include state and local government entities throughout the U.S. There are no merchant fees or monthly minimums, and technical as well as marketing support is also provided at no cost.

While currently available for Android devices, Steckler said there are plans to expand it to the iOS platform as well.
