The California Technology Agency released protocol for smartphone purchases by state agencies and departments on Tuesday.

The California Technology Agency released protocol for smartphone purchases by state agencies and departments on Tuesday.

The new procedures require that agencies and departments seek approval from CTA before purchasing smartphones. Applicants must demonstrate how the device meets a “significant business need within the organization, how it will cost-effectively increase efficiencies and that the device complies with State security policies and standards.”

In tandem with the policy release, CTA published frequently asked questions related to smartphone use requests.
