Shane McDaniel is the director of information technology for Seguin, Texas. Through a mixture of capital funding, certificates of obligation and grants, McDaniel has spearheaded the city’s efforts to transform its legacy technology to meet the needs of the rapidly growing community. The investments have paid off for the historically rural city, with numerous successful implementations upgrading everything from the fiber ring to the network enterprise, systems architecture, radio infrastructure, cybersecurity and GIS. The technology evolution has proven invaluable with 48 new subdivisions and 15,000 new homes currently in the planning process alongside strong commercial and industrial growth.
