Janet Trafton Mills was sworn in as the 75th governor of Maine on Jan. 2, 2019. Mills is the first woman governor of Maine. Before her election to the governor’s office in 2018, Mills served twice as state attorney general. She served as a member of the Maine House of Representatives and a district attorney. As governor, Mills created the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future to examine forward-looking policies around workforce development and broadband expansion.
