Colin Ahern is an internationally-recognized cybersecurity, resilience, and intelligence expert. He was appointed the first Chief Cyber Officer of the State of New York in June of 2022. As Chief Cyber Officer he oversees all cyber threat assessment, mitigation, and response efforts and leads cross-agency efforts to protect New York State from cyber threats. In his previous role as First Deputy Director of New York City Cyber Command and later as Acting Chief Information Security Officer of New York City, Ahern led the transformation of a small team into a charter backed city agency with more than 800,000 endpoints under management across more than 100 departments and offices throughout New York City government.
