Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry on Wednesday announced that Evelina Broussard, who most recently served as an IT manager for an energy company, will be the state’s newest chief information officer and leader of its Office of Technology Services.
According to Landry’s announcement, Broussard will take over the office from Matthew Vince, who has served as interim CIO, according to the state’s website.
Derek Williams was the state’s CIO beginning in January 2024 after Dickie Howze retired after more than 10 years in the role and 45 years with the state government. Williams, according to his LinkedIn profile, left the role this month and is now serving as a state and local government chief technology and innovation strategist at Dell Technologies.
In addition to being a lifelong Louisiana resident, Broussard has led the IT department for the Louisiana division of Atmos Energy, a Dallas natural gas company, as the manager of information technology for the past 28 years, the news release said. She was responsible for leading end-user technology, telecommunications, IT department finances, change management, new program rollouts and project management.
She’s also no stranger to working with the state. In the role, she worked with the Louisiana Research and Development Consortium, as a representative of Atmos Energy representative for the Louisiana Research and Development Consortium since 2016.
“We are excited to announce that Evelina Broussard is the Chief Information officer for OTS,” Landry said in the news release. “I have no doubt that Evelina will work tirelessly to make sure that Louisiana’s programs are well-structured and highly effective.”
StateScoop reached out to several members of OTS, but did not hear back on requests for comment.
“We all have the same goal, and that is to make this state as safe and efficient as possible,” Broussard said in the release. “We are all One Team. OTS is here to support our state agencies. I look forward to working and growing with each and every one of you.”
