“Obviously it’s been an unusual year. But my tagline is that not only are we surviving at the University of Arizona, we’re actually thriving.

“Students are able to get credits, complete their courses and continue to move forward in their academic and scholastic career, and on the research side of things we had about 800 active labs and we were able to keep about 200 of them going. The resilience and the persistence of our faculty staff and students has been inspiring to me.

“But as we move forward into 2021, we’re going to have to really plan and take all the things that we’ve learned over the last 9-12 months and build them out so that we can successfully provide educational opportunities to our students.”

Robert C. Robbins is president of the University of Arizona.
