The Washington Traffic Safety Commission is equipping some of the state's fleet vehicles with passive sensors to detect whether drivers have been drinking.

California's transportation department says its agreement with the transportation data and software firm Inrix marks a first in state history.

Officials said 50 city vehicles have been equipped with systems that automatically hit the brakes if drivers go over a posted speed limit.
