Virginia's governor announced that degree requirements and preferences for the majority of classified state jobs will be dropped come July.

A plan introduced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo would fund an office to create new jobs in computer science, clean energy and health technology.

The governor's office says it hopes to piggyback on the state's already above-average growth in the sector.
