New Jersey passes law criminalizing deepfakes

Gov. Phil Murphy signed legislation that imposes civil and criminal penalties on anyone who makes or distributes deepfakes.

Louisiana governor vetoes political deepfakes bill

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry vetoed a bill limiting the use of artificial intelligence-generated deepfakes. Similar laws are passing easily in other states.
