California Gov. Gavin Newsom has appointed John Ohanian, former chief data officer of the state's human services agency, as the new statewide CDO.

Nolwenn Godard, a product director in the fintech industry, will lead the state's Office of Data and Innovation, Gov. Gavin Newsom said.
