A school district in a small Connecticut town said it too may have been affected by a breach of Illuminate Education software.

Gov. Pat McCrory approved legislation that prevents vendors of online educational resources from using student data for targeted advertising and other purposes.

The legislation would limit how companies can use student data and would make school districts release easy-to-read student privacy policies.
