Challenges surrounding climate change, transportation, housing and civic technology will be addressed by 17 research partnerships starting in February.

The New Mexico capital, home to several universities and the Los Alamos National Laboratory, wants to become the “Silicon Valley of the Southwest."

Cities including Austin, Texas; Detroit, and San Jose, California, are among the first members of new program that recruits research universities to solve community challenges.
