Texas RSOC program is ‘paying dividends,’ says CIO

Texas Chief Information Officer Amanda Crawford says her state’s Regional Security Operations Center program is “paying dividends.” She told StateScoop at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers annual conference in New Orleans this week that the program has operational centers at three universities and that her office is seeking funding for four more. She says the program is receiving strong support from legislators, appropriators and the governor, who’ve recognized that “it works.” The centers, which are staffed by university students, are intended to create a pipeline of cybersecurity professionals and supplement local government agencies’ cybersecurity resources, which are often lacking.
