AI expedited claims appeals process in Nevada
Nevada Chief Information Officer Timothy Galluzi says a recent pilot project using generative artificial intelligence allowed the state to cut hours or even days off claims appeals in its Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. In a video interview with StateScoop, Galluzi says the appeals process in the department’s unemployment division can be slow, but that a generative AI tool recommended ways to streamline the process. “That’s enabled them to greatly reduce their backlog and turnaround time and making these claims appeals decisions,” Galluzi says. “What’s really exciting about that is we could potentially leverage that same technique, that same process amongst any other agency that has an appeals-type process.”
