North Dakota develops first detailed app inventory
North Dakota Chief Information Officer Greg Hoffman said he’s excited to ask state lawmakers for funding to update some of the state’s outdated software. The difference between this ask and previous similar requests, he said, is that he’ll have a detailed inventory of the state’s applications. Hoffman said his office has spent the last six months cataloging the state’s software in a detailed fashion, to understand which agencies use which apps and which ones are most in need of refreshing. “We often talk about data-driven decisions and this is us using the data,” Hoffman said.
