How to optimize cloud-based ERP applications and reduce long-term costs

State and local governments, prompted by the urgent need to improve agility and security — and reduce costs — are taking significant steps to modernize their enterprise ERP, financial and HR applications by moving these applications to the cloud.

That journey requires more than just moving to a software-as-a-service platform, however. It also requires expert help to optimize these cloud-based solutions for the long term, according to two enterprise IT experts in a new StateScoop executive video panel, underwritten by NetApp.

NetApp Director of Solutions Engineering Matt Lawson and Regional Director Matt Westphal — both of whom concentrate on state and local government and education markets — outline a number of reasons why moving ERP systems to a cloud-based solution makes sense. Among other benefits, it virtually eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming annual software updates. It also shortens upgrade cycles and places less pressure on in-house IT staffs to maintain and upgrade systems.
