Enacting data strategies for better state and local decision-making

In the past two years, there has been an exponential increase in the availability and demand for authoritative data for state government agencies. That has prompted state leaders to put greater emphasis on making sustained access to government data a key priority, according to NASCIO’s Top 10 Priorities list for 2022.

Franklin Williams, president of the Data & Insights Division at Tyler Technologies, joins StateScoop in an exclusive interview to discuss how state and local leaders can improve data access and mission outcomes.

Williams highlights how states can successfully leverage data programs to improve interagency communication and collaboration. He shares how Connecticut’s open data program facilitated weekly official pandemic updates that met the public’s demand for in-depth and contextualized information.

Williams also elaborates on “connected communities” in which government leaders can manage and use their data to unlock insights to drive better outcomes on behalf of the people that they serve.
