Building the roadmap to IT network modernization

State and local governments are still adjusting to technology shifts thrust upon them by the changing workplace landscape—and giving renewed priority to modernizing their networks. One way to address their IT challenges and fully leverage their networks is to utilize specialized professional services.

“Understanding where you are today is the biggest factor in helping you have a successful 12, 24, 36-month roadmap for the future,” says Copper River IT’s EVP Paul Pfleger in a new StateScoop interview.

Because employees can be strapped for time and resources, working with professional services providers can more quickly identify the goals and challenges of each customer, end-user and employee on their network—all with security in mind.

For example, Pfleger highlighted how Copper River worked with the Virginia IT Agency over the last decade as a prime contract holder providing cutting-edge technology solutions and services to Commonwealth and local government agencies and entities.  Working with their strategic partners like Juniper Networks to build modern, secure IT environments. He explains the vast array of agencies and departments within a state, from K-12 to emergency responders, and details how to build a better roadmap for IT modernization while addressing the needs and challenges of each end-user.

“We’re trying to help state and local agencies understand their networks today. And then also from a professional services standpoint, where they need support to manage those networks today, to help them grow for the future,” Pfleger said.
