Game-changing grants?

The cybersecurity grants for state and local governments authorized in the $1.2 trillion infrastructure package President Biden signed into law this week are expected to have a big impact on the entities that receive them, CISA Executive Director Brandon Wales told members of the House Homeland Committee yesterday. “We believe the cybersecurity grants for state and local communities is really going to be a game changer in dramatically enhancing the security of our communities throughout the country,” Wales said. Benjamin Freed reports.

These maps stink!

During a Senate Commerce Committee hearing Wednesday on her nomination to lead the FCC, Jessica Rosenworcel said that the federal government’s broadband maps “stink,” but touted her efforts to improve the quality of broadband coverage data nationwide. “So we haven't been always sending our support structures and our support systems to the right places as a result of those flawed maps,” said Rosenworcel, who's been chairing the FCC on an interim basis since January.
