New Mexico IT teams up with finance office to modernize
New Mexico IT department is upgrading and streamlining its processesto serve its agencies better, state CIODarryl Ackley said.
Working with the state secretary offinance and administration, the IT department has simplified its procurementprocessesand cut overheadcosts. This allows the agency to focus onsupporting the technological needs of other agencies and modernizing.
“The demand for delivering IT-enabled services is falling on not just my department but every department. Ithink what you’re seeing is a strain across the agencies that Iserve, being increasingly expected to do more,” Ackley said in aStateScoop TV interview at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers midyear conference in April in Baltimore.
This, along with a mandate from Gov.Susana Martinez, has led to a review of each agency’s technology and businessprocesses.
“The hope is that when we’re able to deploy a centralized web presence for businesses to interact, we’ll also have a better process behind the scenes,”Ackley said.
