The State Website Honored for Excellence In Government by the Interactive Media Awards

The Interactive Media Awards™  has named Hawaii Information Consortium as a Best in Class winner in the government category for its work on Hawaii.gov, the official website of the Aloha State. The coveted award is the highest honor bestowed by IMA and it represents the very best in planning, execution and overall professionalism.

In 2014, Hawaii.gov took a first-of-its kind approach to the gamification of government, to create a new one-stop shop allowing Hawaii residents to completely customize how they interact online with the state on any device, anywhere, anytime – securely and reliably. The result, my.hawaii.gov, integrates with seven of the 17 departments and includes a rich, personalized history of all business conducted online with the state. It also directly integrates with almost 60 of the 100+ online services offered in Hawaii. For highlights of the great new features, visit m.hi.gov/myhi.

Hawaii.gov continued to bring additional upgrades to the award-winning Hawaii.gov website in 2014, including:

  • Language translation
  • Geolocation mapping service allows visitors to find government offices, EV stations, farmers markets, and more.
  • 273 social media pages, 1,200+ twitter followers, a flickr photo pool, and 20 YouTube videos

This Best in Class Award is the 9th award to be received in honor of Hawaii.gov since its release April 2013. The judging consisted of various criteria, including design, usability, innovation in technical features, standards compliance, and content. In order to win this award level, the site had to meet strict guidelines in each area – an achievement only a fraction of sites in the IMA competition earn each quarter.

Hawaii’s official Internet portal, https://portal.ehawaii.gov, is managed by Hawaii Information Consortium, LLC, a Hawaii corporation and wholly owned subsidiary of eGovernment firm, NIC Inc. (NASDAQ: EGOV).  Hawaii Information Consortium partners with state agencies to bring more state business online and improve public access to government information.
